Who We Are
WHIC is made up of two part-time health workers one support health worker, a working committee and volunteers.

Emily Adcock
Community Health Worker
I became a volunteer and committee member at WHIC in 2005. During 2008 I began doing some relief health work, then in May 2009 I became one of two part-time health workers. I have been involved in many discussion panels in Christchurch (looking at various health issues and how information is provided) as a consumer representative. Over the years I have been part of the Homebirth Association, a member of the Professional External Advisory Committee (PEAC) overseeing the Bachelor of Midwifery at CPIT. I have also worked for the College of Midwifery as a Standards Reviewer.

I started working with WHIC in April 2010 as a community health worker. I work ten hours over three afternoons mainly with the drop in I’m currently doing my social work degree and have a real passion for people.

Support Health Worker
I have been working at WHIC since the beginning of January 2010 when I was hired to design a new look for the website. At present I am working here as a support health worker for two afternoons each week, helping out with the drop in and keeping the website up to date.

I have been involved with WHIC (and earlier THAW) for 15 or so years. I came first for information, then as a volunteer and later as a committee member. I am involved with funding and finances. I have trained and worked as an accounts technician, a teacher and a computer programmer.

Shiny Abraham
Secretary
I am a trained Secondary School teacher from the Christchurch College of Education and worked part-time at the Catholic Cathedral College. I have been with WHIC since 2009 and as secretary of the organisation, responsible for Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting. My additional responsibilities include updating Policies and Procedures and assisting the Treasurer with accounts and maintaining the funding calendar.
